Sri Lanka is a tropical tear drop island with endless beaches, timeless ruins, welcoming people, oodles of elephants, famous tea, and delicious fresh food. The perfect destination for Yoga and spiritual pursuits. Our Sri Lanka Yoga Tour journey starts in the cultural capital and Buddhist homeland of central Sri Lanka. Afterwards we head to the lush green lakes district for a healing 4 day Yoga Retreat at a beautiful eco resort. Our Sri Lanka Yoga Tour continues South, for a wildlife safari and lastly onto the Dutch colonial District of Galle, full of tropical beaches with golden sunsets. Our trips ends in the capital of Colombo with a visit to some local temples and markets.

Tour Itinerary

Days 1 & 2
Arrive Colombo – Negombo
Negombo is a modest beach town located just 10km from Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike International Airport. It is a quaint town, with local markets, churches and an interesting old quarter, which makes Negombo a great starting point for our Sri Lankan itinerary.
  • Group arrival at Negombo International airport. We will be greeted by our friendly local guides and transfer to our hotel on Negombo Beach
  • Wake up to the sounds of the Indian ocean lapping at your door and take our first sunrise yoga class on the beach or yoga shala
  • Breakfast will be long and lazy with free time for everyone to enjoy the resort
  • Spend time around the pool, talk a stroll around the local village or maybe indulge in an Ayurvedic massage

Day 3
Dambulla | Polonnaruwa Cultural Triangle
Dambulla, the North-central area of Sri Lanka’s dry plains and rocky outcrops is home to the famous Cultural Triangle region of central Sri Lanka. This region of ancient Sinhalese royalty, is loaded with ancient ruins and restored Buddhist temples.
  • After sunrise yoga & breakfast, our group will depart in an air-con bus north to the Polonnaruwa district. (approx. 4hr drive) Sit back and enjoy the scenery with a stop at a local coconut stall for refreshment
  • On arrival in the town of Dambulla, lunch will be at a traditional Sri Lankan restaurant before checking into our Eco Resort
  • Lunch will be served and the afternoon some local sightseeing

Days 4 –7
Amaya Lake – Yoga Retreat Programme
The next four days are dedicated to retreating, including a set programme of yoga, meditation, spa, and Ayruvedic massages Example of our Programme Sunrise Yoga Breakfast, Free time and massages Afternoon programme or sightseeing Evening yoga and spiritual programme or satsang or local temple visit.

Day 8
Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge
The first of its kind in Sri Lanka nestled on a picturesque tea plantation, on the pictureque Knuckles Mountain Range, 1000 metres above sea level. Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge will treat you to magnificent views, top class facilities, and friendly and courteous service.
  • After our final yoga class & breakfast at Amaya Retreat, we head to Madulkelle
  • Enroute we stop at the ancient Dambulla Rock Temple, donated by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Sri Lanka Buddhist monks
  • Continue onto Madulkelle and check in our accomodation and prepare for group dinner

Day 9
Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge
Sunrise yoga & meditation class overlooking the green hills of the abundant tea plantations
  • After breakfast, enjoy a morning of local sightseeing with our guide, that includes visiting a local tea plantation and learning all about the harvest, production and brewing of a fine cup of Ceylon tea
  • Return to hotel for lunch and then enjoy some afternoon free time
  • In the afternoon, take a leisurely mountain walk for a guided bird watching experience
  • Enjoy another delicious Sri Lankan vegetarian evening meal

Days 10 & 11
Uda Walawe National Park
Framed by soaring highlands, the Uda Walawe National Park is one of the world’s best places in South Asia to see wild elephants up close and personal. The park consists largely of grasslands and bush forest, stretching over an area of 30,000 hectares. It was created to provide a sanctuary for wild elephants and other animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. A true highlight of our journey.
  • After breakfast, depart Madukelle for Udawalawe, check into our green wildlife resort before embarking on a sunset wildlife park safari in local open roofed safari jeeps
  • The next morning, we partake in another sunrise safari in the park incase we missed some of the wildlife and to see the park at a different time of day
  • Rest of day is free to relax around the pool and resort, followed by sunset yoga & meditation class before dinner
  • The next morning, start our day with another delicious local breakfast followed by an interesting visit to the Elephant Orphanage. Witness the beautiful ritual of morning feeding of the baby elephants
  • Back to our resort for free time and relaxation

Days 12 & 13
Galle Fort – Dutch Colonial
Humankind and nature have joined forces in Galle Fort to produce an architectural work of art. The Dutch built the streets and buildings, whereas the Sri Lankans added the colour and style and the result is an enchanting old town that is home to dozens of art galleries, quirky shops and boutique cafes.
  • After sunrise Yoga & breakfast in UdaWalawe, we check-out of hotel and head south to Galle District.
  • Once arriving into our beach resort, we take an evening stroll along our glorious beach and enjoy our group dinner
  • Next day sunrise yoga on the beach followed by breakfast
  • Today we embark on sightseeing tour in and around Galle including visiting the World Heritage listed fort. There will be time for enjoy the shops and cafes.A true highlight of our journey
  • Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local Sri Lankan restaurant

Day 14
Colombo – The Capital
Colombo has steadily developed itself into one of Asia’s top financial & cultural hubs. From museums, Buddhist temples, and modern al fresco dining, Colombo seems to bridge the old with the new. A true cultural wonder.
  • After sunrise beach yoga and breakfast in Galle, we check out and head for a few hours drive to Colombo
  • Arrive, check into the day hotel and embark on a local sightseeing tour
  • After lunch, we visit The Buddhish Temple of Gangaramaya Vihara, popular with visitors due to its eclectic architecture and tranquil setting
  • After dinner, we refresh back at our hotel and a group transfer to the airport for late flights back to our home countries
