With over 30 years of experience, Bianca Machliss has dedicated her life to teaching yoga, mentoring students, and building a thriving community through Yoga Synergy. Her approach blends ancient traditions with a modern, science-informed understanding of the body and mind.
Bianca’s Yoga Teaching Journey
Bianca’s yoga journey began at 19, although it wasn’t an instant connection. Naturally stiff, shy, and self-conscious, she found her early experiences on the mat challenging. A transformative trip to India changed everything. Immersed in the heart of yoga’s culture and spirit, she found not just a practice, but a passion. On returning home, she began practising twice a day, seven days a week. Yoga quickly became a source of peace, resilience, and purpose.
Her teaching journey started by chance when she was asked to cover a local class. She said yes, and something clicked. Teaching felt natural, and from that moment, she knew she had found her path.
In 1990, Bianca co-founded Yoga Synergy with the vision of offering six-week beginner courses based on evolving sequences. This format made yoga more accessible, progressive, and safe for a wide range of students. It soon became the foundation for the signature 6 Sequence Synergy Method now used across all Yoga Synergy classes.
In 1994, she returned to university to study physiotherapy, determined to combine her love of yoga with scientific knowledge. That expertise now underpins every aspect of Yoga Synergy’s teaching, enhancing both its safety and effectiveness.
Since 1999, Bianca has been training yoga teachers, initially through a three-year apprenticeship. In 2014, she launched the Yoga Synergy 200-hour Teacher Training and, in 2020, expanded it to an online format so students around the world could access the training.
Today, Bianca teaches and manages at Yoga Synergy Newtown and also teaches at Elixr Health Club, Waverley Council, and Waverley College, sharing yoga with students and staff of all ages and backgrounds. She continues to lead trainings and retreats both in Australia and overseas.
