Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive Wellington
Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, sits near the North Island’s
southernmost point on the Cook Strait. A compact city, it encompasses a
waterfront promenade, sandy beaches, a working harbour and colourful
timber houses on surrounding hills. Strong winds through the Cook Strait
give it the nickname “Windy Wellington”.
- On arrival into Wellington Airport, you will be picked up by a
shuttle service and transferred to your hotel in the city centre - If time permits we shall take a guided walk through the city and have a
look at the botanical gardens and the government building, known as
the ‘Beehive’ - We shall be back at the hotel in time for a pre-tour
briefing by your local guide. Afterwards, we have dinner in our hotel
Day 2
Wellington to Picton – Inter- island cruise
Picton is based on the top of the South Island, the gateway to the
islands and inlets of the Marlborough Sounds as well as the nearby,
Queen Charlotte Track, which traverses’ coastal forest, skyline ridges
and bays and has some of the most speculator views in NZ.
- Enjoy a continental breakfast this morning before being transferred
to the ferry terminal to embark the famous journey, crossing the
Cook Straight - Relax and look out for dolphins cruising alongside the ferry as we
make your way south - When the majestic Marlborough Sounds are in view, you will know
you’re almost there - Upon arrival in Picton, our guide will provide a quick overview of
the picturesque harbour town. After our hotel checked in, we head out
for a meal at a local restaurant or pub
Day 3
Picton | Queen Charlotte Track
The famous Queen Charlotte Track is one of the most scenic walking and
trekking trails of NZ. The well marked track traverses’ beautiful
coastal forests, skyline ridges and bays with crystal clear water
- Today we have an early breakfast, before being transferred to the waterfront
to start our journey to the iconic Queen Charlotte Track (QCT) - Our trip starts with a short speed boat ride through the beautiful
Marlborough sounds to Ship Cove, the official start of the track - The trek is fully guided and includes a packed lunch & dinner at our lodge
- A history talk will be given about Maori settlements and the
European influence - The total trek is approx. 3 hours long with stops for lunch
- At the end of the day your luggage will be waiting for you in your
lodges - At the end of a energetic day enjoy dinner in the lodge bar and restaurant
Day 4
Queen Charlotte Track
After an early morning yoga class at our lodge, followed by hardy
breakfast before we head off for day 2 of trekking
- Today we climb some step hills and traverse the coastline with more
spectacular views of the forests and Marlborough Sounds - Out amongst nature is the aim and an opportunity to do some walking
meditation. - At the end of the day, we head to the wharf for a short ferry ride
back to Picton - The evening is spent enjoy a group dinner in our hotel
Day 5
Picton |Golden Bay | Mohua
Golden Bay / Mohua is a shallow, paraboloid-shaped bay in New Zealand,
near the northern tip of the South Island. The bay lies northwest of
Tasman Bay and Cook Strait. It is protected in the north by Farewell
Spit, a 26 km long arm of fine golden sand that is the country’s longest
sandpit.
- Start the day with a short but steep walk up to Picton’s Trig Point,
providing excellent views over the little harbour town and
surroundings, afterwoods, sip a coffee in one of the many waterfront
cafes before heading to Golden Bay - Enjoy the scenic drive from Picton to Golden Bay with a stop to visit
Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve which was used as one of the film locations for The Hobbit - About an 1.5 hours further down the road lies Nelson – one of the
South Islands biggest harbours - After a lunch break, we will hit the road again, getting closer to
Abel Tasman National Park and head towards Anahata Yoga Retreat
Days 6 & 7
Golden Bay – Anahata Yoga Retreat
The next 2 days are devoted to enjoying a Yoga Retreat at the beautiful rustic Eco Retreat of Anahata. Nestled on a hilltop, overlooking Golden Bay, Anahata is a popular centre for yogis who wish to immerse in a few days of Yoga practice, whilst dining on local fresh organic food. It has a unique and cosy Mongolian yurt style Yoga shall, which is perfect for the chilly mornings.
Our teacher will guide us through the next few days of yoga and meditation practice. As well as enjoying some local activities, such as nature walks, and evening satsang |meditation. and spiritual talks
Day 8
Hanmer Springs Thermal pools
Hanmer Springs is a resort town known for its magnificent healing, incredible healing thermal pools, spa and wellness options. The surrounding mountains
are home to a Heritage Forest, which has a trail winding to a scenic lookout
point. To the south, the rugged Waiau Gorge is known for its white-water
rapids and abundant salmon and trout. A truly magical town.
- It’s a long journey today as we leave Golden Bay behind and head
across the rugged countryside to Hanmer Springs, enjoy the
spectacular scenery along the way - Upon arrival, we check into our hotel have dinner and an early night
Day 9
Hanmer Springs | Yoga & Bike Rides
- Wake this morning amidst the jaw dropping surroundings of Hanmer
Springs - After a light breakfast, we head out to a local yoga retreat where the
lovely hosts will guide us through a morning yoga practice - After an sumptuous lunch we head out to enjoy a scenic bike ride in the backcountry
- After the energetic bike ride, soak your muscles in one of the many hot pools Hanmer Springs has to offer
- Evening dinner in our hotel
Day 10
Christchurch
Christchurch, is located on the east coast of the South Island. The Avon River meanders through the city centre. On its banks are many cycling paths, the green expanse of
Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
- After breakfast we check out of the Golden Bay /Hammer Springs and
prepare to travel back to Christchurch - On arrival in Christchurch, we check into the hotel and spend the
afternoon exploring the sites of quaint city - Tonight in our final tour dinner together
Day 11
Christchurch – Day of Departure
- After a leisurely breakfast we shall checkout of the hotel and transfer to the
airport for departure back to our home countries
